It was an unforgettable life experience to a 36 year old lady, Uche Nwachi whose fiancé was murdered by suspected cultists at Anikpo Oziza, Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The death of the 41 year old man, Omiko Ude has thrown the woman and her family into serious mourning since Thursday 16th May, 2019 when the incidence took place.
During the attack, the lady ran into the bush where she escaped, otherwise both would has been killed by the hoodlums.
It was gathered that Uche took food to her sick fiancé, after eating the food, they decided to go and see a doctor in a hospital in Oziza area.
On their way, unidentified persons suspected to be cultists suddenly attacked them, which led to the death of Late Omiko
Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO), Odah Loveth who confirmed the report to Citizens’ Advocate, said police visited the scene, photographs were taken, the corpse was recovered and deposited in the mortuary.
DSP Odah, said efforts are on top gear to arrest the perpetrators of the ugly incident and she condemned the menace cultism is causing in the state.
She appealed to the public to expose cultists living in their area. She said that cultism has eaten deep in the minds of Ebonyi youths and sometimes suspected cultists from nearby state invade Ebonyi and unleash terror on their rivals and run away. Therefore residents of the state should join the state government and police to end cultism in the state.
She said, “This menace called cultism that has eaten deep into the system is also being championed in the Local Government Areas. At times, they come from nearby states to come and attack in Ebonyi. There is nothing good in cultism people should stop going into it. If you are living with them, expose them because one day it could be their turn.”
