The reappointed Chief Medical Director of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (AE-FUTHA), Dr. Emeka Onwe Ogah has reiterated the commitment of the Board and Management of AE-FUTHA towards breaking new frontiers of excellence in taking the Tertiary Health Institution to the league of global players in the ‘Teaching Hospital Community.’
The CMD, therefore, appealed to good spirited individuals and organizations to join hands with the management of the health institution he superintends in their efforts for improved Health Care development of the society.
This is in order to sustain advancement of the upscale in the inflow of activities and services.
Recall that April 2015 was a bridge of continuity in Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki following an end of an era and the beginning of a new dawn.
That month in that year saw an exchange of baton in the directorship of the hospital following the bowing out of Prof. Paul Olisaemeka Ezeonu as the Chief Medical Director of FETHA after eight years of productive administration and the ushering in of the young energetic Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, and a Consultant Pediatrician, in the person of Dr. Emeka Onwe Ogah as the credible replacement.
At the inception of his new office as CMD of FETHA, Dr. Emeka Onwe Ogah laid out his detailed lines of programmes including targets and roadmaps for taking the tertiary health institution to the apex level in medicare service delivery.
In his words, “the vision, mission and motto of the hospital have not changed, so, my vision is in sync with that of the hospital. We are concerned about research, effective healthcare service delivery and teaching. A Teaching Hospital like ours must prioritize these three core functions because they are critical to our success as a health institution. By so doing, we would help reduce mortality and morbidity within and outside the State.”
