2023: Ebonyi Stakeholders Clamour for Igbo President

In view of the alleged marginalization of South Easterners in governance of Nigeria, the Stakeholders from various backgrounds in Ebonyi State have joined other states in the zone to clamour for President of Igbo extraction in 2023.

At a meeting at Osborn La Palm Hotel in Abakaliki, stakeholders from religious, business and political backgrounds from the state said the people of Ebonyi state decided to join forces with other states of the zone to make robust case for the number one position in the country for equity sake.

Focal Person, Sustainable Development Goals in the state who is also the National Women leader, the agitating group ‘South East 4 Nigeria President 2023’, Dr. Ngozi Obichukwu, in her remarks noted that Ebonyi State is the worst hit in the marginalization of the zone, adding that the state cannot keep quiet in any struggle to integrate the zone into the mainstream of the nation’s politics.

She said that agitation for Igbo Presidency in 2023 is a collective responsibility of all true sons and daughters of the zone irrespective of party affiliations.

She explained that the group ‘South East 4 Presidency 2023’ is not interested in any political party or any candidate but to fight for the right of the Igbos.

“Let me emphasize that ‘South East 4 President 2023’ is not fighting for any political party or candidate. We are apolitical group fighting for the right of the South East. Please in your various engagements, do not to mention party or candidate. When the time comes God will give us a leader after his own heart to go and represent the zone.”

She further called on the people of the state and the South East to join the group for the sake of equity in governance of Nigeria.

The State Coordinator of ‘South East 4 President 2023’, Hon. Kennedy Ogba, in his speech announced that the group would be formally inaugurated on 25th of June 2019.
