There is tension and anxiety in Ndiofia Eluwgu Ettam community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State following the disappearance of a middle aged man, Mr. Alegu Nnachi.

Mr. Alegu left his house on the evening of 5th June and went to their village square for normal evening market and did not return.

It was learnt that the man whose wife took his children and ran away because of the communal war between Ikwo and Edadama Cross River people, while leaving the house told his neighbour that he was going to the village market to buy some soup condiments after which he will have his hair cut.

But after waiting for the whole night, Mr. Alegu’s house was not opened and when the neighbours checked, he was nowhere to be found.

The people raised their village gong and search party was sent out, his slippers were seen on a bridge after the community primary school but his body still missing.

The community currently is handicapped as no one could give account of the man’s whereabout which made everybody to live in fear.

An elder in the community who gave his name as Nweke Alobu however expressed shock over the development and called on the state government to provide a police post at the boundary community.

Mr. Nweke noted that Elugwu, Uduku Ettam are communities surrounded by Cross River State and because of the age long communal war between Ikwo and the Cross River community, there is every need for government to establish a police post in the boundary community for protection of the people.

He lamented that it is only the police division in Agubia Ikwo that is serving the community and the distance is nothing to write home about.

As at the time of filling this report, the missing man is yet to be found and no concrete information has been generated as regarding  his whereabout.

His wife and children are yet to return from the place they are seeking refuge.
