A year old baby and a widower, also father of three children are feared dead in road accident involving a hummer Toyota bus belonging to Abakaliki Local Government Council Legislative arm and a lorry which occurred at Aguogboriga Junction Abakaliki over the weekend.
The legislative bus with plate number 625 AKL and a lorry with plate number EBJ -366 XA were said to have caused the death of a man who was just coming back from the burial of his late wife and a year old baby.
It was gathered that the lorry carrying sachet water was negotiating a street by Enugu/Abakaliki Express Way, Ezillo Avenue by Aguogboriga Layout Junction when he suddenly moved back and the bus that was said to be following it closely could not escape but somersaulted.

He said, “I just got a phone call that my brother who was driving that bus that had an accident, I went straight to the hospital and discovered that they were two in the bus. The one person has already died and the other one is still breathing.”
“When I got to this place I saw the bus in pieces, but from the questions I asked, I was told that the 911 lorry wanted to negotiate to this street on the highway, but he moved back and the bus which was closely behind it in the process of evading ramming into the lorry, itself failed and somersaulted.”
“I was told that my brother Emmanuel Nwofoke and a driver to the local government chairman were in that bus, but the driver to the Chairman was the one that died while my brother is still breathing but sustained heavy injury. As at the time I left the hospital, blood was still gushing out from his head.”
“The man that died was coming back from where he buried his wife that just died; my brother was taking him back to Abakaliki before the accident.”
Meanwhile some concerned citizens who gathered at the scene of the accident said that a little baby that was inside the bus died immediately while others who sustained different degrees of injuries were taken to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (AE-FUTHA).
