Justice Nwaigwe In as Justice Nwankwo Bows Out

All is now set for Justice Anselm A. Nwaigwe to take over from Justice Aloy Nwankwo as the next Chief Judge of Ebonyi State.

On Wednesday, 10th July, 2019, Justice Nwigwe’s appointment was confirmed in Abuja by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammed and the National Judicial Commission, and later by the Ebonyi State Executive Council.

A Press Release from the office of CJN reads as follows:

“….Subsequently, the plenary of the Meeting presided over by the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Dr. Justice I. T. Muhammad, CFR, recommended to the Governors of Sokoto, Lagos, Anambra, Ebonyi, Niger, Taraba, Kano, and Jigawa States, eight (8) successful candidates for appointment as Chief Judges and Grand Kadis for the States.

They are:

1. Appointment of Chief Judge, Sokoto State High Court of Justice, Hon. Mr. Justice Muhammad S. Sifawa

2. Appointment of Chief Judge, Lagos State High Court of Justice, Hon. Mr. Justice Kazeem O. Alogba

3. Appointment of Chief Judge, Anambra State High Court of Justice, Hon. Mr. Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu

4. Appointment of Chief Judge, Ebonyi State High Court of Justice, Hon. Mr. Justice Nwaigwe A. Anselm

5. Appointment of Chief Judge, Niger State High Court of Justice, Hon. Mr. Justice Aliyu M. Mayaki

6. Appointment of Chief Judge, Taraba State High Court of Justice, Hon. Mr. Justice Filibus B. Andetur

7. Appointment of Grand Kadi, Sharia Court of Appeal, Kano, Hon. Kadi Tijjani Yusuf Yakasai

8. Appointment of Grand Kadi, Sharia Court of Appeal, Jigawa, Hon. Kadi Isa Jibrin Gantsa

Meanwhile, on Friday 12th July, 2019 a valedictory Court Session was held at the High court Auditorium Complex, Abakaliki by 10.am, followed by a Banquet at Government House, Abakaliki courtesy of Ebonyi State Government in the evening.

On Sunday, 14th July, 2019, there will be a Thanksgiving/Birthday jamboree at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Ezzama, Ezza South LGA to be officiated by Most Rev Dr. M. N. Okoro Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki.

On Monday 15th July, 2019, there will be presentation of Books by 10am at High Court Auditorium, Abakaliki.
