… Over Mother’s Eviction

A-25 year old man, Maduabuchi Ejani is now in the police net after hacking his younger brother, Eze, with a machete.

The incident that happened early last week attracted the attention of the youth of Mebiokpa/Ameke community in Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area.

According to an eye witness account, the suspect, Maduabuchi has been away from home for close to 8 years, only to surface one early morning to inflict 2 deep cuts on the head of his younger brother, totally unprovoked.

Citizens’ Advocate gathered that the town union of the community had penultimate week, evicted the mother of the sons, Mrs. Ejani from the village over acts inimical to the well-being of the family and community at large.

They had collectively taken her back to her biological parent at Mgbom, pending when she turns over a new leaf.

Rather than show remorse for her anti social behaviour, she put a call across to her son Maduabuchi alleging threat to her life by the community in connivance with her two sons, Ogbonna and Eze.

Consequently, Maduabuchi rushed home from his Abeokuta residence only to descend on his younger brother for not defending their mother against the community’s eviction.

His shout for help attracted neighbours who saved the victims from the annihilation of his brother.

The youths mobilized and apprehended Maduabuchi, after dealing with him in their own way, they handed him over to the police in Okposi for prosecution.

Efforts to get police comment on the matter proved abortive as the police stations in Okposi claims that they are not authorized to speak to the press.

Citizens’ Advocate learnt that mediation efforts between Mgbom and Mebioka/Ameke community on the matter is yet to be amicably settled out of court as at press time
