A yet to be identified young man was found in an unconscious state in a gutter on Wednesday morning 7th August 2019 at Nwankwo Street in Abakaliki.
A resident of the area, Mrs. Nkemka Okoro who spoke with our reporter said that she, alongside her fellow tenants woke up on a fateful day without envisaging any form of the ugly incident but shortly after discovered the man who was bleeding through his nostrils and ears inside a drain in the area.
She said perhaps, the victim is suffering from epileptic fit or another related ailment which had thrown him into the gutter since there was no bruises or injuries on other parts of his body indicating that he was either attacked by people or involved in a road crash.
Mr. Ikenga Ubowo, a petty businessman in the area, on his part, guessed that the man might have been poisoned by someone else as according to him, blood was gushing out from his ears and nostrils.
He further described the incident as enigma which could not be explained either by the residents or passerby while pointing out that in spite of the great crowd that gathered at the scene still the victim could not be identified by anybody.
Mr. Izundu Okoh a resident said that the man’s problem might not be unconnected with excessive consumption of local gin which eventually resulted to bleeding as the victim could not be found with any belonging including handset and identification card.
Citizens’ Advocate gathered that as at the time of filing this report, for fear of the unknown , the petty traders in the area were running from pole to post in search of a government agency which would evacuate the victim to enable them to proceed with their daily activities.
