Another Auto Crash at Ezillo… 2 Die Previously at Nkalagu Crash

As people were still discussing the Nkalagu auto mayhem, a trailer with Reg. NSH9677 has crushed beyond repair, a Sienna car with Reg. No AA919ZLL on Sunday 10th August 2019 at Ezillo, near the market.
According to an eye witness account, the accident happened at about 12:00 pm.
Narrating the incident to the Citizens’ Advocate reporter at Ezillo, an eye witness whose shop was nearly hit by the trailer, Mr. Joseph Ajim said that he was in his mechanic workshop at the Afor Ezillo end of the Enugu/Abakaliki expressway when the trailer from the Enugu axis of the road ran into the parked Sienna car and dragged it to about 2 poles before they crashed into the drainage but was wedged by a heap of blocks in front of the mechanic workshop.
Mr. Ajim said that there was a great pandemonium as people thought that the owner of the car was in it during the accident only to discover that the owner packed it and went into the market for a business or see a friend.
Sympathizers who rallied round the scene had the feeling that the driver of the trailer must have given up the ghost when they saw him crawl out of the flattened cave of the trailer unhurt.
The driver, a northerner told the crowded sympathizers that his steering stiffened and he could not have control of the vehicle hence the accident.
He rather praised Allah for saving him but assured that the crushed Sienna car would be replaced by his master after negotiation.
The trailer, the crushed Sienna car, and the driver had been taken to the Ezillo Police Division.
Many concerned members of the public have shown worries over the frequent accident between Okpoto and Nkalagu as no month passes without experiencing an accident on the highway.
It would be recalled that it was within that Imeoha axis of the federal high way that another popular driver who resides at Emene known as ‘Dogo’ lost his life when his Toyota bus crashed into the bush and smashed on a tree near the road.
Dogo, the driver died instantly while other passengers mainly women from Enugu going to buy the item at Eke Ezzamgbo sustained various degrees of injury and some later kicked the bucket at the hospital.
It was also recently that two 911 vehicles conveying yams from Zakibiam crashed at the front of the Ezillo farm, killing traders on board among others.
In June 2019, a woman from Umuhuali and was returning from her in-law’s place at Nnewi after 3 months, was crushed at Nkalagu Junction crossroad.
Accident Claims 2 at Nkalagu
Recall that a crash between a Toyota commercial Bus and a long Trailer on 3rd August 2019 claimed 2 lives, the bus driver, Mr. Ndubuisi Ohagwu and the passenger, Mr. Friday at the Imeoha end of Nkalagu, Enugu/Abakaliki highway.
Briefing Citizens’ Advocate at Imeoha Nkalagu near Ejemco Filling Station, the scene of the accident, an eye witness and a member of the Nkalagu vigilante who also has a shop in the area where the incident occurred, Mr. Romanus Ogbuobor said that the trailer was negotiating a ‘U-turn’ at Imeoha on the Enugu/Abakaliki highway when the Toyota Bus with Reg. No ZLL416XA, with the inscription ‘Ogom Egbunam’, on high speed from Nkalagu Junction crashed into the trailer, killing the driver instantly while the only passenger, Mr. Friday died due to injuries sustained on Thursday, 11th August, the same day the driver was buried.
Mr. Ogbuabor also said that the young and popular driver of the family of Ohagwu, a dealer on an assorted drink at Ezillo, Mr. Ndubuisi resides in Ezillo with his parents since childhood and has been known for his humility and dedication.
According to Mr. Ogbuabor, the passenger, Mr. Friday, a dealer on plastics chairs, plates, etc. who lives in Ezillo sustained serious injury and was taken to a hospital but later died.
On the day of the burial of the driver, the Ohagwu family from Mgbogho in Awgu LGA but naturalized in Ezzillo after the civil war, carrying out the wholesale/distributorship of beers and other drinks across the state.
He further said that the driver of the trailer was empathic as he turned after the accident and got to Nkakagu junction, then decided to report himself at the Ezillo Police Division, where he was said to be detained till the time of this report.
The wreckage of the bus was still at the Imoha Nkalagu, scene of the accident with pieces of the body of the driver which were scattered all about the area.
One passing through the area would be greeted by the corrosive outdoor of the splashed blood and body of the driver.
