The Association is known as Catholic Workers Volunteer Force (CWVF) on Sunday, 11th August 2019 went for thanksgiving at St. Theresa Catholic Cathedral, Abakaliki Ebonyi State after their successful National convention held in Abakaliki.
During the Holy Mass, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Nnachi Okoro, the Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese ably represented by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Alphonsus O. Iwueke, the Cathedral Administration welcomed all the Catholic faithful who gathered to thank God for His mercies and blessing upon their lives.
Msgr. Iwueke in a special way thanked the Catholic Workers Volunteer Force (CWVF) that came from different places around Nigeria to celebrate mass at the Cathedral.
He told them that God in heaven and the mother church recognize their efforts and commitment in the propagation of faith in the Catholic Church,
He urged them never to relent in discharging their selfless services and that God will reward them abundantly in Heaven.
Similarly, Msgr. Iwueke thanked members of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (C.Y.O.N) St. Theresa Cathedral who observed their youth week grand finale, also in St. Theresa Cathedral Church.
He charged them to shun any social vice in their life, because youths are the future hope.
In other words, they must avoid drug abuse, avoid provoking their parents
In the same vein, Msgr. Iwueke charged parents to always checkmate the going out and coming in of their children in order to know when things are going wrong.
During the homily, Rev. Fr. Geoffrey Obasiohia advised the Catholic faithful to always have faith in God just like Abraham in the Bible.
He said that God answers prayer in three dimensions, which include, yes, no and wait.
Fr. Obasiohia stated that “there are things you will ask God to do for you and God will do it when the time had come that is Yes, there are things when you ask God to do, God will say, No, because you may not have good intention in your mind and lastly there are things you will ask God to do for you and God as a mysterious being, He will say wait, which means it is not yet time.”
“But in all these, we should have faith in God for nothing is impossible for God to do for us at His own time and it is only faith that can make God answer your prayers after examining your conscience.
Fr. Obasiohia charged the Catholic Workers Volunteer Force (CWVF) to continue with their good work for it is not easy to serve the church without attaching any condition, where you can benefit from and pray God to reward them abundantly.
In a similar way, Fr. Obasiohia notified Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) St. Theresa Cathedral Abakaliki that had their grand finale to mark the end of their youth week.
He pointed out that youth period could be very problematic because it is a time in life when one is hardly old enough to be on his own and yet he is feeling a sense of independence.
“Youth period is a time one is attempting to find some sense of identity; that is why they sometimes act and dress so weird. They are bizarre!
He further stated that the scriptures represent youth as a time both is danger and challenge.
