Mystery Fire Claims Life At Okposi Street

Fire outbreak which its cause is yet unknown that gutted a bungalow of a widow, Mrs. Chinyere Edeh at 17B Okposi Street in Abakaliki was said to have resulted to the death of her grandson Master Chidera Ogbonna.

The woman while narrating her experience told Citizens’ Advocate that on a fateful night, they had already gone to bed when suddenly an apartment where late Chidera and his siblings were, was burning.

She said that the accident was discovered by her tenant who raised alarm and through the help of some men and other sympathizers, the fire was stopped from escalating, but before then, the two boys had been badly injured.

She added that shortly after, the victims were raced to the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki where Master Chidera, an orphan and SS III student of Urban Model Secondary School gave up the ghost, five days later.

Mrs. Edeh further disclosed that she had been the one training the children from cradle following the untimely demise of their parents and thereby expressed displeasure on how the victim’s future was cut short by an unknown factor.
She, therefore, appealed for financial assistance to enable her to secure the life of the second victim, Master Miracle Ogbonna who was said to be lying critically in the hospital due to the domestic accident.


She enumerated other losses to include two giant generating sets, N50,000 worth of Ogbono, thirty pieces of plastics seats, two big mattresses, great quantity of wears among other valuables and as a result called for help from the government and good spirited individuals.
