A Senior Secondary School one student of Ishieke Secondary School, Abakaliki, Ikechukwu Oke has seriously become sick and hospitalized after an alleged 41 days and nights of dry fasting and prayer in his Ishieke house.
A source told us that the ‘prayer warrior’ was an Izzi man, but other sources later confirmed him to be an indigene of Ebiaji in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Ikechukwu, an SS1 student of Ishieke Secondary School in Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State was discovered by one Chimobi Nteoma, he appears like a skeleton and can’t talk or continue with the prayer and fasting.
Among the prayer points as sighted was for God’s intervention in his family as life has not been easy with him and his mother as well as his siblings since the demise of their father.
Citizens’ Advocate gathered that Master Ikechukwu Oke, is a born-again Christian and a son of Late Mr. Oke and Mrs. Elizabeth Oke from Ebiaji in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi state and had desired to be a Catholic priest, dream poverty could not allow coming true.
Christian Nwaokpa, a student of the university, who claimed to know Oke, said that he decided to embark on such herculean spiritual exercise, as a result of challenges and afflictions currently confronting his family, in order to enable him to attract God’s intervention.
A source close to him, who doesn’t want his name published alleged that Mr. Ikechukwu decided to embark on such self-suffering as a result of the family challenges and worldly afflictions. Since the father died, things has been very bad for him and his widowed mother and brother.
He alleged that the student deprived himself of classroom exercises when his body system became weak and could not move around but still continue with the fasting and prayer.
He said “We the students of this hostel with his quick response to treatment and God’s intervention for the actual cause of his suicidal mission termed fasting and prayers. How can he tempt God?”
