A five-man armed robbery gang said to have been terrorizing travelers along Isu/Ugboka Road, on Wednesday night 25th September, 2019 invaded a filling station belonging to a man simply identified as Mr. Fabian at Nkwoagu Isu in Onicha L.G.A, dispossessed members of his staff undisclosed amount of money and other valuables and shot dead a fresh graduate of Ebonyi State University.
Narrating the incident, a resident of the area who pleaded anonymity told Citizens’ Advocate that on a fateful day while the company’s workers were making an arrangement to close, around 9:00 pm, suddenly the men drove into the premises with their car, hurriedly brought out their weapons of war and overpowered everyone.
Our source disclosed that during the incident, one of the staff believed to be the manager was forced under gunpoint by the criminals to show where their proceeds were kept and immediately the big bag was carted away.
He further said that after the money had been moved to their car, the miscreants began to seize the phones and other valuable assets of those within the filling station and in the process shot a fresh graduate, Mr. Ifeanyi Ogbonna to death on the accusation that he wanted to run away.
He condemned the brutal killing of late Ifeanyi, an indigene of Amanato village in Igboeze Onicha Community who according to our source only went to see someone within the area and unfortunately became an incidental victim.
He added that the deceased before his death was never a worker of the company, that he is a fresh graduate of Ebonyi State University who was already processing his one-year compulsory service and along the line encountered the daredevil criminals.
Another resident claimed that the miscreants could not be unconnected with some cultists who might have advanced their nefarious activities to an armed robbery operation and thereby advised that parents should caution their children against all illegal activities and associations.
Citizens’ Advocate gathered that as at the time of filing this report, the company was still under lock and key while its surroundings were deserted.
