Road accident involving a coaster bus with registration number, Ebonyi: BZR 474 XA and motorcycle operator, Mr. Sunday Ngwuta on Friday evening 28th September 2019, had claimed the life of the cyclist.
The incident occurred at Oriuzor Village, Ezza North LGA.
An eye witness, Mr. Chibueze Nwokolo told Citizens’ Advocate that on a fateful day, both the driver and Mr. Ngwuta, an indigene of Ekka Community of Ezza North were moving in opposite directions when suddenly the coaster bus driver lost control of the vehicle, in the course of avoiding pothole and thereby knocked down the motorcyclist.
He disclosed that prior to the incident, late Ngwuta was operating moderately while maintaining his lane before he was crushed by the coaster bus.
He claimed that as soon as the driver noticed the severity of the injuries inflicted on the victim, he took to his heels but unfortunately for him, he was grabbed by a vulcanizer alongside other sympathizers who later accompanied him together with the victim to a hospital where the young man gave up the ghost some hours later.
He added that following the man’s critical condition before his demise, policemen from traffic division were invited into the matter and arrested the bus driver before the victim eventually passed on.
Mrs. Uchechi Odom, a resident of the area frowned at the manner which the victim’s life was abruptly cut short as a result of alleged recklessness while subjecting his bereaved family members to perpetual pains.
We reliably gathered that the driver’s boss and the deceased family had already engaged each other in peace talk over the issue as at the time of filing this report.
