Citizens of Onicha Igboeze Autonomous Community in Onicha LGA are still recounting their ordeal on how the military gun allegedly seized by some youths was eventually recovered.
A resident of the area, Mr. Onwuegbulam Eze told Citizens’ Advocate that the audacity of the prime suspect fondly called ‘Fear Not’ was prompted by the man’s confidence in his charm which he uses to disappear at will.
He said when the suspect saw the annoyance on the faces of the residents following the embarrassment he caused, ‘Fear not’ with his girlfriend ran into a forest called Offia Nkwo where he took cover while waiting for the situation to normalize.
There, he was caught in a net of romance with his girlfriend on a tipoff.
According to Mr. Eze, when he sighted the team, he brought out some things from his pockets, items suspected to be the charm and started conjuring some incantations to enable him to manipulate the people but unfortunately, his charm failed him and he was caught.
He added that when the young man could not have his way, he took to his heel and along the line was apprehended by the people, because he was surrounded, there was no way out for him.
Mrs. Mgbafor Chukwu Ogo, a resident alleged that all the persons arrested in connection with the problem are suspected members of Beggars Secret Cult confraternity known as “ALO” who had since over a decade been terrorizing the entire Onicha clan in every aspect.
She further advised that some politicians should refrain from using other people of similar character for whatsoever reason as such an act gives the boys encouragement to continue their evil act of tormenting the neighborhood.
Citizens’ Advocate recalls that recently, the state governor’s convoy was blocked at Umudomi Onicha where a gun belonging to one of the soldiers was confiscated by some youths of the area.
We also learned that there was disorderliness in the area following the soldiers’ determination to recover their arm until it was eventually found a few days after the incident.
