A large number of indigent and physically challenge persons selected across different religious belief and Christian denominations, on Wednesday 18th December 2019 were supported with different gift items by Tycoon Group of Companies in Abakaliki.
The pastor of Anglican Church, Azuiyiokwu, Mr. Uchenna Chukwuemeka Emmanuel, in his sermon advised everyone to always look for wealth that has eternal value as according to him, life does not end on earth.
He disclosed that most of the persons who usually bless others with their belongings are the ones whose target is eternal life and thereby charged everyone to strive towards making heaven as each person’s deed is recorded in heaven.
He appreciated the donor, thanked him for possessing a charitable mind towards the disable persons and prayed for more blessings upon his family.
Speaking during the event, Chairman of the companies, Chief (Dr) Okpala Benson Ikechukwu told Citizens’ Advocate that his gesture was necessitated by the need to alleviate the plight of some less privileged persons.
Chief Okpala said, “We didn’t carry out this program to display wealth, rather to serve as a source of blessings to the downtrodden.”
“Therefore, based on this, we urge other big shots to consider such generosity as culture that ought to be adopted.”
According to him, the event was also geared at commemorating Christ’s birth and his costliest sacrifice to humanity and as a result advised the beneficiaries not to feel rejected as both their various conditions and needs are known by God.
Chief Okpala further said that following his love for the less privileged persons that his companies had mapped out plan to build schools for them where the cost of their academic pursuit or that of their children would be subsidized.
He also called on other moguls to invest in Ebonyi State which he described as a “fertile land” rather than going outside, and he also appreciated Governor Umahi over his developmental revolution.
Former manager of Hotel De Tycoon, and finance manager of the companies, Mr. Anthony Onuoha and Mr. Jude Kelechi Uganda respectively thanked the benefactor for the gesture and also advised the beneficiaries to extend a similar kindness at their various capacities to others in their neighborhood.
They said that the firms had been of immense help to the persons as they had in the time past awarded scholarship to twelve pupils and students and also provided educational intervention for the visually impaired students at the school of the blind.
They rated Chief Okpala as the highest employer of labor in Ebonyi State under private sector and thanked him for the generosity.
The President, Nigeria Association of the Blind, Ebonyi State Chapter, Barr Enyi Joseph Nwabueze and another beneficiary, Mr. Edwin Okafor respectively thanked God over the life of the philanthropist and prayed for divine protection upon his family.
Highlights of the event include the presentation of special numbers, dancing competition, pick and win exercise, disbursement of gift items and refreshment.
