Lawmaker Doles Out Gifts to His Constituents

The Lawmaker representing Izzi East constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Anthony Onyibe Nwegede to commemorate the birth of Jesus distributed worthwhile gifts to his constituent.

Hon. Nwegede who converged the people in his country home at Ndiogbu Ndieze community, Izzi L.G.A of the state, said the distribution of the items became imperative so as to commend the people for their support in his administration.

Nwegede charged the people to be good ambassadors of the state, he pointed out that peace is the most paramount thing in  humans’ lives and it remains the best way to achieve success in life.

He cautioned them against any act capable of jeopardizing their futures and admonished them to be supportive to the administration of the Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi  and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly  Rt. Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to attract more dividends of democracy in the area.

He explained  that the ceremony was an annual gathering since he assumed office in 2015, where they rubbed mind together on how to move the constituency forward  and as well appreciated the constituents for their support so far, advised Christians and Muslim faithfuls to celebrate the  Christmas wisely to attract God’s favour in their lives.

Handing over the materials to the beneficiaries, Hon. Nwegede promised never to pay deaf ear on issues affecting the people while the items were distributed to the party chairmen of various wards, widows, stakeholders at the local government level from the constituency and indeed  the general public. The materials included rice, wrappers, cows, goats and undisclosed cash.

However, the chairman of the occasion who is as well the Secretary of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Service Commission, Chief Louis Uguru appreciated Hon. Nwegede  for his exemplary leadership he demonstrated  to the people and prayed God to safeguard him  wherever he goes.

The former Chairman, Izzi LGA and now member of Ebonyi State University Governing Council, Hon. Peter Iteshi expressed satisfaction over the ceremony and described the lawmaker’s kind gesture as a round peg in a round hole and charged other political office holders in the area to emulate him because a labourer deserves his wages.

In their separate reactions, the Vice-Chairman, Izzi LGA, Hon. Mrs.  Loveth  Nkwuda N, the Senior legislative aide to Hon. Sylvester Ogbaga of the Green Chamber,  Barr. Jerome Elom and the Special Assistant  to the Ebonyi State Governor on project monitoring, Ebonyi central, Engr. Ibaki Emmanuel Obinna, extolled  the lawmaker for his philanthropic gesture, said that Christmas period is a time  people should reflected in their past lives, remembered the loved ones, the downtrodden and not the time of engaging into social vices.

They called on  the youths to be law-abiding citizens, and also to give their lives to Christ, and avoid indulging into crimes.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mr. Alexander Idike and Mrs. Mbam Iboko thanked the lawmaker for his magnanimity and prayed God to perfect his life.
