The Executive Chairman Izzi LGA Hon. Paul James Nwogha on Thursday 26 December 2019 celebrated Christmas with the people of Izzi and empowered all the party faithful that participated in the 2019 general election in the area as part of the commemoration of Jesus Christ’s birth.
Hon. Nwogha who converged the people in his country home, Ezzaofu Inyimagu Community, Izzi LGA said the empowerment of all the election participants became imperative as to encourage party faithful that stood by them at all times and would stop at nothing to give them a place in the government they fought to bring to power.
It is recall that during the past general election that many homes and property worth millions of naira were set ablaze in some parts of Izzi Local Government Area of the state on alleged political party indifference.
The Executive Chairman described the gesture as a way to strengthen the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, stating that not only those who are of his political party whose motorcycles were set ablaze was empowered but entire victims from party divides, as such have taught others that they weren’t struggling to install just a party alone but set of persons who has the capacity to deliver good governance.
He said, “We have 14 wards in Izzi, in the last general election and during our local Government Chairman election primary, many people’s motorcycles were damaged and we decided to replace them as a way to make peace between the two divides and encourage them to see reasons why they should support our party for the development of the area.”
“While I draw wisdom from His Excellency and Speaker, House of Assembly,Hon.Ogbonna Nwifuru, I am calling on those who received the motorcycles to carefully use them to support themselves and the programme of the government led by Engr. David Umahi to promote peace in their various wards.”
He further stated that empowering both divides has helped establish peace among them, pointing out that his administration has set up a plan to zero thatched house in the entire Local Government Area which would soon commence.
The local Government Chairman debunked the purported social media report that accused him of receiving bogus federal government allocation almost higher than what the state receives monthly, stating that though the state government is prudent in management of meager allocation they receive and that the erroneous post was created to cause distraction.
He said, “There are two types of allocation we receive in the state; the Facebook allocation and real allocation from Federal Government. There’s no way we will be receiving over one billion when our state is one of the least states in the list with low allocation, but all thanks to Engr. David Umahi for his prudent management of the meager allocation because those circulating the message are agents of distraction.”
Speaking during the official inauguration of the Christmas gifts, the Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ogbonna Nwifuru said the motorcycle replacement was necessary to encourage peace among the affected persons.
The Speaker who was represented by the wife, Hon. Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwifuru commended Hon. Nwogha for the wonderful initiative and charged the receivers of the motorcycles gifts to judiciously use them for the interest of the party.

On his part, Hon. Uchenna Nwamkpuma, Coordinator Ebyia Development Center, thanked the party faithful for coming out en-masse and charged them to remain loyal to the policies and programs of the ruling government and the party.
Hon. Nwamkpuma hinted that the idea of replacing motorcycles was a good one and advised receivers to use them to preach peace in various wards and not indulging in anti-party activities or anything capable of causing trouble within their communities.
Also, the Council Chairperson, Mrs. Chidiebere Paul Nwogha while distributing the Christmas gift to the widows advised them to build their hope on God, even as she charged them to always pray for their leaders as all the local government Chairmen would continue to ensure that the foundation of widows-inclusive government laid by the state Governor is emulated in all areas of the state.
