Road accident involving an ash colour Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) with registration number, Lagos: LND 880 CZ, recently was said to have resulted to the death of its driver, Mr. Joshua Edeh Nwani at Egugwu village, Mpu Community in Aninri LGA of Enugu State.
And eye witness and resident of the area, Mr. Ozoemena Eze told Citizens’ Advocate that the victim was an indigene of Okposi Okwu in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State, he was returning from a journey but along the line lost control of his vehicle and knocked down electricity pole through which he sustained serious injuries.
He said that late Nwani had visited his sister at Enugu town and while returning, the man stopped over at “Japan Drinking Joint” within the Aninri axis where he allegedly took alcohol to his satisfaction.
He disclosed that after he had drank to stupor, the victim entered his jeep and began to drive haphazardly, in the course of ascending a hill, he lost control and somersaulted several.
According to Mr. Eze, during the crash, the victim was thrown out of his vehicle by the force of the crashbut before help could get to him, he was already bleeding through his mouth and nostrils. He was rushed to Presbyterian Joint Hospital, Uburu where he died the following morning.
A resident of the area, Mrs. Regina Odo told Citizens’ Advocate that the deceased died over a case suspected to be internal bleeding because according to her, late Nwani complained of heart pains before he was taken to the hospital.
She claimed that the man drank in such a way that he forgot his handset at the beer parlour, she frowned at the irresponsible drinking habit of the deceased which claimed his life untimely.
She added that the deceased had concluded some marriage rites over his yet to be wife before the incident, she advised that people should always be conscious of their lives in every aspect.
Another resident whose shop situates close to the scene said that on the fateful evening, she was inside and suddenly began to hear heavy sound but when she came out, she found the man lying helplessly.
She therefore appealed for road caution signs to minimize the rate of crashes in the area.
