…Another Defiles Girl, 11 … Victim Now Battling VVF

Mr. Fidelis Nwangele a 29 year old man from Ngbo-Agbaja, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has been arrested by the police for allegedly defiling his 4-year-old daughter in their house.
This is as Magistrate’s Court, sitting in Abakaliki magisteral district, Abakaliki Ebonyi State has remanded a 36 years old man Jonah Ogudu, at the Federal Correctional Centre, for allegedly defiling 11 years old girl in Ishiagu, Ivo Local Government Area of the State.
It was alleged that Mr. Fidelis Nwangele committed the crime sometime in June, 2019 and caused the girl to start suffering from Vesico Virgina Fistula (VVF) following injuries she sustained from the father while defiling her.
The defilement caused quarrel between the man and his wife and when the girl started urinating uncontrollably, the woman reported the matter to the police as she couldn’t endure the health challenges her infant daughter was passing through.
The suspect was said to have been arrested on 11th of February by the police and the man was said to have denied ever having carnal knowledge of the girl during investigation into the matter.
But Nwangele’s wife, Uzoamaka and the girl told the police that the man committed the act.
The little girl is currently undergoing medical examination at the National Obstetric Fistula Centre (NOFIC) in Abakaliki for repair.
When contacted, the state Police spokesperson, DSP Loveth Odah confirmed the incident and said that the suspect has been arrested and the victim’s torn stained pant recovered.
Odah explained that police juvenile welfare centre from Ekumenyi Police Division where the incidence took place initiated preliminary investigation on the matter and recovered the pant and the matter transferred to the State CID for further discreet investigation.
“Police JWC initiated preliminary investigation on the matter and recovered the victims stained pant. The suspect has been arrested and investigation is ongoing. He will be arraigned in the court after investigation”, she said.
In the case of the 36 years old Mr. Ogudu, he was said to have had carnal knowledge of the victim, one Miss Chioma (surname withheld by us), on her way from the stream on February 5th, in a nearby bush at Amaeze village, Ishiagu community, Ivo Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, Miss Chioma, was said to have been shouting on top of her voice, while Ogudu was having carnal knowledge of her, but her persistent cry attracted passers-by to the scene.
He was arraigned before the Magistrate’s Court, on Friday, on one count bothering on unlawful sexual intercourse.
ASP Mathias Eze, Police Prosecutor, told the court that the offence was punishable under section 34 (2) Ebonyi Child Right Laws and Related Matters, 2010 and that he should not be allowed to go.
The charge read, “That you Jonah Ogudu ‘M’, on the 5th day of February, 2020, at Amaeze Ishiagu in Ivo Local Government Area in the Abakaliki Magisterial District did have unlawful sexual intercourse with one Chioma (surname withheld by us) ‘F’ aged 11 years, and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 34 (2) Ebonyi Child Right Laws and Related Matters, 2010.”
The suspect was not granted bail and had no Defence Counsel, that appeared for him.
The Chief Magistrate, Nnenna Onuoha, said the offence was against all women in the world and she ordered that the accused person be remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Abakaliki, while his case file should be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecutions in the state, for necessary advice. \
She adjourned the case till March 2, 2020, for report of compliance.Follow us
