A group of three friendly teenagers, natives of Amasiri community in Afikpo North Local Government Area have allegedly murdered one of their bosom friends, one Kelechi Isaac, while testing out the efficacy of the bullet proof charm (odaeshi) they recently acquired.
Citizens Advocate gathered that the friends were worried about disturbances of herders to farmers in the nation and residents of Afikpo in particular and planned to tackle the menace with the aid of the charm.
We learnt that the deceased on 5th February 2020 told the suspects Richard Oko Okpu and Ginikachi Idam that he had a charm that will assist them to achieve their aim, which he had taken and asked them to assist him to test its efficacy with the aid of hunters’ gun.
Consequently, on the 17th day of February they were arraigned before a Chief Magistrate court presided over by His Worship Chinedu Agama in two count charges for unlawfully shooting the deceased with a gun and murder.
The Police prosecutor, Edet Effiong said the offences are punishable under sections 319(1) and 324 both of criminal code cap 33 volume 1 laws of Ebonyi state of Nigeria, 2009.
