How the Church May Be Encouraging Abortion (1)

“In the light of our conviction that the foetus has the right to live and develop as a member of the human family, we see abortion, the termination of that life by the act of man, as a great moral evil. We do not believe that the right to life, as a right pertaining to persons, admits of no exceptions whatever; but the right of the innocent to life admits surely of few exceptions indeed.” – Church of England Board of Social Responsibility, 1980

“The number of abortions carried out since the passage of the Abortion Act 1967 is unacceptably high.” – Church of England General Synod, 1993

The Roman Catholic Church says that deliberately causing an abortion is a grave moral wrong. It bases this doctrine on natural law and on the written word of God.

“When does life begin? The Church says that human life begins when the woman’s egg is fertilized by a male sperm.”

“From that moment a unique life begins, independent of the life of the mother and father. The features that distinguish us from our parents – the colour of our eyes, the shape of our face – are all laid down in the genetic code that comes into existence then.”

“Each new life that begins at this point is not a potential human being but a human being with potential.” – Roman Catholic

The church is not the building that we enter to worship God nor the environment, the church is the people that worship God in the building. They are made of different tribes, ethnics, colours, languages, and psychology.

I remember when I was younger, there were certain things I couldn’t understand then, but as I grew, I understood those things better and I knew why those things happen.

There were single sisters that were saint in my church, so to say, rather we saw them as saints, please don’t get me wrong, I never said they were not saints, but none of them at least got pregnant before marriage.

But there was a single sister that a brother in the church impregnated, the sister left the pregnancy, the brother who was the only pianist in the church, was suspended for a year, asked to sit at the back sit always, he was not allowed to take holy communion and he was never allowed to participate in church activities for the 1-year suspension. After a year, the suspension was lifted and he continued working for God, presently, he is an ordained prophet in the same church growing in God’s grace, married to the same sister with 5 children presently.

During his suspension, there were lots of wagging tongues, saying different kinds of things about him, gossips were always going on here and there within the church, those that criticized and crucified him, there were lots of people that saw him as an outcast, but he remained humble and served his suspension.

I’ve met with several girls that aborted their pregnancy because they were afraid of the castigations and crucifixions from the church, starting from the pastor, to the ministers, then to the members. They couldn’t face the rejection and dejection that will come from the family of God, a family that was meant to shelter them from the outside world, a family that was meant to rebuke them and still love them.
