It was a moment of joy and thanksgiving for the family of Mr. and Mrs. Oyoke Silas, residents of Ogbee Hausa in Abakaliki metropolis whose over one year old son, Esomchi Oyoke, kidnapped late September, 2019 was recovered by men of Nigeria Police Force, Ebonyi State on Monday 2nd March, 2020 at Enugu State capital.
Narrating the ugly experience, the father of a year old boy, Mr. Oyoke Silas told our reporter that it was a moment of reckoning as their family accused him of colluding with his wife and sold their son.
He said that they were going from one place to another seeking for God’s face to prove their innocence, until Men of Nigeria Police Force, Ebonyi State Headquarters demanded for the suspected kidnapper’s phone number through which the buyer of his son was tracked.
He narrated that through the effort of the team, they moved to Enugu State after police thoroughly investigation and traced the alleged buyer one Mr. Ephraim Udeh, Rtd prison Warder, to his village within Obollo-Afor, Nsukka axis in Enugu State.
The team of Policemen arrested the suspect around 3:00a.m that Sunday night and moved him to his Garriki where his family resides
He said, after police interrogation, the suspect confessed to have bought the child for N1m from a reliable source with certificate, pointing out that he needed a male child since he had none.
Mr. Oyoke hinted that at that point, the suspect was taken to his urban residence where his missing son was reunited with him, and on sighting the boy, he could not hold his joy as the security men identified the child to be his long searched baby.
He further told our reporter that the suspect claimed that he needed a man who will inherit his property as he has no male which prompted him into buying the child, revealing that the suspect had baby food and wears for his son who was sucking before his recovered.
He lauded men of Nigeria Police Force for their expertise and professionalism displayed in the course of the search, describing it super and awesome.
The father of the boy, also disapproved wrong perception most Nigerians hold about Men of Nigeria Force to be habitual bribe collectors, stressing that his case has proven to him that the security agency has contributed and still contributing to the betterment of the country.
He charged them to always adopt same expertise employed during the course of recovering his son in similar cases as to rewrite their name in the mind of average Nigerians.
In her reaction, Mrs. Patience Oyoke (Mama Esomchi) expressed gratitude to God for using Men of Nigeria Police Force, some family friends and Ebonyi State Government to restore peace in her family.
She described the moment her son arrived and rushed to hug her as the point of renewal of marriage vow with her husband whose family had earlier disowned for the news of her missing son and pray God to reward all who made effort towards her son’s recovery.
Recall that Master Esomchi Oyoke was on September 29th, 2019 kidnapped by a man who identified himself as a kinsman to Mr. Oyoke and pleaded to squat with the family from where he transacts his Garri business.
Also recalled was that the suspected kidnapper after his first visit returned to Abakaliki from Port Harcourt where he claimed to be living, and on the following morning made away with little Esomchi and sold him at Enugu State.
Citizens’ Advocate gathered that the suspected kidnapper carried out his odd deal after escaping from armed robbery deal from where he came to Abakaliki and kidnapped master Esomchi to raise money to bail his accomplice.
Also gathered was that, in effort to bail his accomplice that the alleged kidnapper was arrested and currently cooling his heels alongside accomplice in an undisclosed cell at Enugu State.
