Human life is a sacred gift from God. Abortion for personal or social convenience is contrary to the will and the commandments of God. Church members who submit to, perform, encourage, pay for, or arrange for such abortions may lose their membership in the Church, those who may not loose their membership in the church may be disciplined by suspension for a period of time, or any other punishment as the church deem it fit, according to each doctrines.
The Lord declares in his commandment, Exodus 20:13 – “Thou shalt not kill”
In today’s society, abortion has become a common practice, defended by deceptive arguments.
Abortion is a procedure to end a pregnancy. It is the use of medicine or surgery to remove the embryo or foetus and the placenta from the uterus.
A medical personnel said, “The decision to end a pregnancy is very personal” but I oppose such saying because instead of deciding to end a pregnancy by committing abortion, you should decide to abstain from all forms of sexual activities that may lead to pregnancy in the first place.
Think about it, if your mother had aborted you while you were in her womb, would you have been born? If she had decided personally that she could neither cater nor fend for you, for that reason, she would abort you, would you have a place in the society today? Selah.
In an interaction with a youth pastor, Pastor Irem Ebenezer, he disclosed to Citizens’ Advocate that the church doesn’t encourage abortion in any way, but the ego of those that have sinned against God makes them to consider abortion or having abortion, in a bid to flee from the punishment that can be meted out on them from the church authorities.
He said, “The church is an established organization which has its rules and regulations and if you must belong to any organization, you should decide to abide by the rules of that organization.”
“The church is strictly against abortion, the basic instrument of the church, which is the bible; the Word of God, in which church is built on doesn’t encourage abortion in any way and has never and will not encourage abortion.”
“The church is there to ensure that the rate at which abortion is carried out is reduce through sound doctrine which has never and will not be mixed up.”
“We as human beings have desires and those desires are meant to be controlled by the word of God, yet if you allow yourself to be controlled and guided by the devil, you may find yourself in situations that will lead you into abortion.”
“Abortion is the removal of pregnancy, I hate it when people say unwanted pregnancy, it is the removal of pregnancy, this termination of pregnancy is not encouraged by the church in any way.”
“Let’s take a critical look at some of the rules guiding the church, when you as are an erring brother or sister, there are things that should bring you back, things like penalties, like suspension, some churches resort to guidance and counselling, most cases, you may be asked to withdraw from some positions in the church.”
“Man in his pride may not want to be seen as somebody who defied the rules and regulations of the church, maybe you are a deacon that was demoted, you were a pastor that was removed from that position, that pride is always there in man and so they may not want to go to that extent, some call it shame, he may not want to bear that shame, then the alternative way is to remove the pregnancy.”
“The truth of the matter is that, it is not the church that has encouraged the person to commit abortion, it is one’s ego that encouraged him/her, the law was not meant for anybody, yet the law was meant for everybody.”
“Do not blame your inability to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the church, a holy institution on your inefficiencies or being unable to guide your actions or thoughts.”
“My candid advise to you is that you shouldn’t engage in abortion, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, if you know that there are things that will lead you into abortion, better not go into it, it is better you wait till you are married before you engage in such sexual acts that can result to pregnancy.”
“Sex is not meant for unmarried people, it’s meant for people under the circle of marriage, that does not mean there are no married people who engages in abortion, I’m not a doctor, doctor’s advice should be adhered to in some rare cases.”
“The church does not, and will not and has never encouraged abortion. Do not blame your inabilities to abide by the rules of the church as an excuse to engage in abortion.”
However, some Church leaders have said that some exceptional circumstances may justify an abortion, such as when pregnancy is the result of incest or rape, when the life or health of the mother is judged by competent medical authority to be in serious jeopardy, or when the fetus is known by competent medical authority to have severe defects that will not allow the baby to survive beyond birth.
But even these circumstances do not automatically justify an abortion. Those who face such circumstances should consider abortion only after consulting with their local Church leaders and receiving a confirmation through earnest prayer.
When a child is conceived out of wedlock, the best option is for the mother and father of the child to marry and work toward establishing an eternal family relationship. If a successful marriage is unlikely, they should place the child for adoption.
If you have committed a sin of fornication that you have become pregnant, tell the church authority and let the adequate punishment be given unto you, it will not break you, but in the long run, it will make you, it’s better than committing a grievous offence against God.
But let me ask you, If you don’t want to get pregnant why are you having sex, which is meant for married couples only?
