Couple identified as Mr. and Mrs. David Nwamini, native of Ndubia Ezza Inyimegu Community, Izzi Local Government Area of the state were said to have allegedly died of suspected Lassa fever on Thursday 27th March, 2020.
It was gathered that they were suspected to have contracted the deadly disease and were rushed to Sudan United Mission Hospital at Onuenyim Agbaja Village in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi state where they gave up the ghost.
We learnt that before the man’s death, he was vomiting blood and bleeding from his nose at the same time.
However, shortly after the man was taken to the hospital, his wife’s case became complicated and was rushed to the same hospital but died after receiving some treatment.
According to one of the close relatives who spoke with us on condition of anonymity, revealed to our reporter that Mr. David and his wife a mother of one, recently wedded and were sick, after receiving treatment at home but their conditions did not improve.
The man whose health failed before his wife stopped responding to treatment, they were rushed to the hospital, Sudan United Mission Hospital Onuenyim Agbaja but effort to save their lives proves futile.
Recall that there was a case of Lassa fever in the area last year which claimed a lot of lives in the area due to inadequate medical facility.
The relative while Speaking with our reporter appealed to Ebonyi State Ministry of Health to come to their aide as there are many other victims currently suffering from the sickness but had resorted to herbal medicine at home due to inability to pay hospital bill.
He regretted that if nothing is done in order to curtail the spread of the disease and avert further fatality from this pandemic that is currently ravaging the state, that more death would be recorded.
