…With permission from both parents
The above subject matter refers to an indigent mother with a set of triplets in the person of Mrs Linus Nkechi, a native of Inikiri Effium in Ohaukwu LGA, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. (Pictures attached)
Mrs. Linus Nkechi, a 36year old now Para 5 alive 7, presented to AMURT assisted Health Facility in Inikiri, Ebonyi State on 11th April, 2020 with a preterm labour.
She has never been booked for antenatal care prior to her presentation. An examination and ultrasound scan done by the Doctor on call confirmed she was carrying a set of triplets and equally in labour.
The woman was quickly referred to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki where she later delivered her set of triplets in the early hours of 12th April, 2020 ie Easter Sunday.- 2 girls and 1 boy but all premature.
With the assistance of AMURT Foundation, they have been nursed in Newborn unit at AE-FUTHA 1 of which AMURT has spent a lot of money, about N185, 550 to keep them all alive. AMURT can add more but need help as we cannot do it alone.
Fortunately and unfortunately, they were discharged 2 days ago, 29th April, 2020 with a total bill of N242, 000. Fortunately because we are happy they are all alive and doing well and unfortunately because there is no hope of them going home. You know why? They cannot afford to pay the bills.
As it stands now, the babies and their mother need to go home. They need food to sustain them while at home. They need baby milks, clothes, diapers etc.
I have been the AMURT doctor following them up since admission and I’m very much worried what will happen to these children if they are left without help.
This woman and her husband can’t even afford a tin of milk or even adequate feeding and God decided to bless them with a set of triplets.
She already had four (4) children before these triplets came in, making them seven (7) children with nothing to cater for them.
Based on the above stated facts, I hereby appeal to all men and women of Goodwill on my friends’ list, Government at all levels, Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Charity organizations to come to the aid of my patients so that they will not die.
Owing to the Coronavirus Pandemic, You may or may not be allowed to visit the babies at AE-FUTHA 1 Abakaliki but you can bring your support to AMURT office at No 26 Onwe Road Extension Ebonyi State or contact me on phone number: 08031342245 or AMURT country Director: 08133067130
May God bless you abundantly as you assist this poor and vulnerable family in this period of needs.
Your donations will be appreciated in form of Milk (Pre NAN or NAN 1), baby clothes or diapers.
Thank you immensely in anticipation of your positive response to my appeal.
