The indigent parents of 10 children need urgent empowerment to carter for the well-being and welfare of the members of their family. Mrs. Martina Nwofoke was delivered of quadruplets on 18 May, 2019 at Sudan Mission Hospital, Izzi, but were all rushed to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (AEFUTHA 1) former Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (FETHA 1) following some complications.
Both the mother and her quadruplets were discharged and detained for their inability to pay their hospital bills. After much advocacy, the Chief Medical Director of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, Dr. Emeka Onwe Ogah released them free of charge.
On Monday, 18th May 2020, AMURT foundation decided to celebrate the first year birthday of Nwofoke Quadruplets at their Country home in Iga Village, Ogbala in Ishieke community of Ebonyi LGA of Ebonyi state. AMURT Foundation brought them some foodstuffs to help alleviate their severe acute Malnutrition.
According to AMURT’s Dr. Sunshine Chinwendu, “1 year after their birth, they are still looking like 3 months old babies. That is to tell you how malnourished they are and how indigent their parents are.”
Dr. Sunshine, therefore, appealed to the State Government to come to their assistance.
“I wish you people can look in this direction and help this family. Handling one child is not easy not to talk of 4 babies in a family with 6 children already,” she pleaded.
