Religious Worshipers Laud Umahi For Reopening Churches

…Vow To Abide With Precationary Measures

Christian faithful in Ebonyi state have given an accolade to the state Governor, Engr. David Umahi as he relaxed lockdown on religious activities across the state that was banned over a month ago due to the scourge of corona virus.
They made this known while interacting with newsmen in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital during our monitoring to ascertain the level of compliance of people on the measure put in place by the state government to combat the escalation of the virus. They said that they will pray fervently to avert the deadly virus in the state describing Umahi as man after God’s own heart.
Speaking, the Bishop of Anglican Diocese, Bishop Monday Nkwegu, described the reopening of church services as a great reunion, thanks Umahi for his kind gesture and appreciated the grace given by the government.

According to him, “I want to thank His Excellency the Governor for giving us opportunity to come together again in the house of God, I want to tell him that we are solidly behind all the measures adopted in the fight against the virus because of that, in our own, we will be partnering with them in a very serious way by sensitizing our members to be able to keep the precautionary measures strictly to save their lives and lives of communities”.
He said that he will never relent in providing face masks, hand sanitizers among others to curtail the virus and expressed hope that with all the measures the virus will soon go finally.
“As we have joined hand in the fight, God will help us so that the pandemic will go easily”, he said
The chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and Pastor in charge of House of Kings and Priest, Abakaliki, Dr. Wilberforce Oti appreciated God for his mercy to his children and expressed optimism that with the prayers of children of God Covid-19 will soon be history in the world.
However, the Assistant Pastor of Assemblies of God church, Rev. Emmanuel Nwogu said that the congregations were delighted that the religious worship has been relaxed by the state Governor, Engr. David Umahi, promising to abide by the directed precautionary measures such as wearing of face mask, use of hand sanitizers and as well as, maintaining of personal and environmental hygiene.
Adding his voice, the Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Nwangele charged Christians to consistently observed all the measures put in place to curb the pandemic while admonishing all community leaders never to hesitate in reporting all illegal returnees in their various areas to safeguard the life of Ebonyians.
On his part, a stakeholder and former Minister for State Power, Chief Goddy Ogbaga applauded Umahi for his proactive measures in effort to combating the disease spread and admonished religious leaders to imbibe the World Health Organization’s directives to ensure no believer is found affected by the disease.
He said that the period has called for fervent prayer as nothing is too big for God to handle, calling all faithful to pray for the country and the world at large.
He called on the Moslem and Christian communities in the state not to misuse the opportunity giving to them to avoid risky total lockdown and thanked Governor Umahi for lifting the ban.
Citizens’ Advocate Reporter observed that churches during services complied with the precautionary measures and guide in line with the state government directives by the use of nose mask as Veronica Buckets were seen at the entrance of various churches.
