Evangel University, Akaeze, Ebonyi State, Nigeria says the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown will not affect the school academic curriculum that the students will graduate at the appropriate time.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Iche Ukpai gave the assurance in release made available to newsmen in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
Professor Ukpai who spoke against the backdrop of the recent visit of the National Universities Commission, NUC said the university has gotten full accreditation for the programs it had requested for.
According to him, “It is my pleasure to announce that the results of the accreditation of some departments in our University released by the NUC within the first quarter of this year, 2020 appeared very much in our favour as five (5) out of the six (6) departments that were presented for accreditation came out successfully with full accreditation, except one, which was given interim accreditation.
“Departments of Economics, English Language, Political Science, Sociology, History and International Relations, all in the College of Arts and Social Sciences and Department of Computer Science in the College of Science, scaled through the hurdles to appear with full accreditation.
The Vice Chancellor however added that “only the Department of Mass Communication in the College of Arts and Social Sciences has interim accreditation”.
“College of Arts and Social Sciences has in it, the Departments of English Language, Economics, History and International Relations, Mass Communication, Political Science and Theater Arts.
“College of Health Science houses the Departments of Nursing Science, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Radiation Science, Medical Laboratory and Public Health”.
While he further explained that “College of Management Sciences also offer degree courses in the Departments of Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Management and Marketing”.
“College of Science” he said “has the Departments of Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Industrial Chemistry, Computer Science, Industrial Mathematics, Microbiology and Physics with Electronics”.
Professor Ukpai called on the general public to take advantage of the tuition of the university which he said “is the cheapest faith-based University in Nigeria; charging paltry sum of N250,000 for members of Assemblies of God Church and N270,000 for non members of Assemblies of God Church. The fees can be paid in two installments and covers tuition, accommodation, internet facilities and others”
Evangel University is a faith-based University owned by the Assemblies of God Church Nigeria with its take-off Campus at Okpoto, along Enugu-Abakaliki expressway in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
