Man 25, Clubs Step Brother To Death Over Sharing Wages

The Nigerian police force Ebonyi state command has arraigned a 25 years old man before a magistrate court sitting in Abakaliki for killing his half brother over disagreement about sharing formula for their wages.
Mr. Chinweikpe Orogwu a native of Ndufu Echara Ikwo in Ikwo Local Government Area of the state was accused in the one count charge suit numbered MAB/ 251c/2020 of unlawfully causing the death of his brother Ebubechi Orogwu by hitting him severally on the head with a hoe.
Our Correspondent in Abakaliki gathered that the defendant who had no defence counsel during the arraignment,allegedly committed the act on the 14th day of May 2020 at Urban Primary school Ndufu Echara Ikwo premises shortly after the day’s work when fracas ensued pertaining sharing formula of their wages as they both made farm heaps for someone.
On his part, the Police Prosecutor attached to the court, Inspector Chinedu Mbam noted that he thereby committed offence punishable under section 319(1) of the criminal code cap 33 volume 1 laws of Ebonyi state of Nigeria, 2009.
Speaking on the matter, the trial Magistrate, His Worship Blessing Chukwu stated that the magistrate court has no jurisdictions to hear such matter and ordered remand of the defendant in Nigerian Correctional Center Abakaliki.
She ordered transfer of the case file, all document and evidences in the matter to Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for further prosecution.
Magistrate Chukwu further adjourned the matter to a later date for report of compliance and further prosecution at the high court.
