Police Confirms Kidnap Of Chinese Expatriate In Ebonyi

Police in Ebonyi State has confirmed the abduction of one Chinese national YUAN ZHIBIN of Green Filed mining company located at Ihetutu Ishiagu in Ivo Local Government Area of the State.
The command Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah confirmed the kidnap to journalists in Abakaliki on Thursday.
She said the hoodlums numbering 20 stormed the site around 1:30 on Wednesday, shooting sporadically into the air and made away with the Chinese expatriate.
But assured that the police is working with the local vigilante to release the expatriate unhurt.
It was learned that two Chinese nationals where abducted but along the way one was dropped because he was not strong.
Report has it that the kidnappers had called the company on Thursday demanding for a ransom which she could not disclose to journalists but said in a similar, such incident took place in March in the same mining company, N10m ransom was paid to the kidnappers.
The police Pro said, “On the 3rd day of June, the manager of the site Eniola Olushola reported to the Ivo division that while they were on duty that about 20 unidentified gunmen stormed the place, took away one Chinese national YUAN ZHIBIN of green filed Ltd. Immediately the command dispatched a tactical detective together with the local vigilante to the area.
“I want to assure you that police is working to rescue the man unhurt.
“It happened very late in the evening but police have been dispatched to the area.
It is one that was kidnapped though those abductors wanted to go with two but because of the pressure they dropped one of the Chinese man who seem not to be strong and went along with one.
“According to the manager they were numbering up to 20 and stormed the place and started shooting sporadically, police recovered 18 expended live cartridges the kidnappers came with pump action.
As we talk, Yekini Ayoku the acting CP has ordered for full scale investigation into the kidnap.
