Having the needs of the constituents which are majorly rural famers, the house of Representatives member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, Ebonyi state, in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, has distributed about 5, 000 bags of 50 kg Urea fertilizer and millions of naira to farmers of Ikwo/Ezza South federal constituency.
Beneficiaries of the fertilizer were farmers from all the villages of the 31 wards of the consistency irrespective of their political parties.
Correspondent reports that it has become a routine exercises but this 2020 the lawmaker extended the gesture to other farmers who are not APC members and can’t afford money to buy fertilizer for their farming business.
The lawmaker explained that his passion was to eradicate unemployment and improve agricultural activities of the constituency to ensure food sufficiency.
He urged the farmers to avail themselves the opportunity of accessing CBN small farmers loan courtesy of President Mohammed Buhari.
“What we are giving out today is not about political party. It cuts across party line because am representing our people at National Assembly both those in PDP, APC, other political parties and those who don’t belong to any political party.
“All I want is for our graduate to have job and for our farmers to have better yield as reward for their efforts. The fertilizer if applied early in their farm will help them to have enough to eat and sell to solve their problems.”
“My advice to every village head and traditional rulers is to ensure that you promote peace in your village. Try and settle any dispute in your area and above all, continue to sensitize your people on how to stay safe from this global pandemic called Coronavirus. It is real and there is no need to play politics about it” he concluded.
Some of the farmers including, Patrick Ogali , Ebuka Nwanchor, a traditional ruler from Ezza South among others commended Ogah for always having the farmers in mind, adding that the fertilizer came at the appropriate time of farming season.”
The farmers used the medium to call on the government to provide them new improved seedlings which grow faster in the farm.
They prayed God to bless Ogah who remembered them at the right time unlike others who distribute such enhancer when they were not needed.
“We have never had it this good in the entire State. Not only is he giving this money and fertilizer across party line, but it is coming at the right time when we the farmers need it most.”
“Since Comrade Ogah went to Abuja, things changed for good. He has been giving federal job to our graduates, helping to maintain peace in our communities, assisting those in business and other needs, and today, he has given us fertilizer and money to improve our farm activities.”
“The result of this timely fertilizer is that we will have high yield this year. We will have enough to feed our family and sell the rest to improve our economic status. Our prayer as always is for God to protect him, bless him the more and protect him against the enemies of progress”, Ogah said.
