By Okereke Wilson Ogbonnaya
The Bishop of Champions of the Truth Church Incorporated, Rt. Rev. (Prof.) Sam Onyeagoziri Ndubueze Okorie, has given tacit hope that he has the spiritual cure for the novel viral pandemic ravaging the entire world, Covid 19.
To stamp the seriousness of his spiritual medication of victims to get well in four days, he challenged the government to prosecute him if he fails in his effort to cure victims presented to him within the stipulated time.
He disclosed this to newsmen at the church’s headquarters, Mile 50 in Abakaliki during the recent monitoring on Christians’ compliance towards the Coronavirus disease preventive measures, stating that with his knowledge of the scripture and the level of anointing on him, he could divinely heal Coronavirus patient within four days.
“I believe in the scripture which says, ‘with God all things are possible’, judging from both scriptural and contemporary histories, I have come across many health challenges which medically appeared to be impossible to be handled but those ailments were later healed with prayer, today, those cases have become things of the past”, he explained.
He said that God is greater than the pandemic and appealed that government should give him access to the treatment centre or anywhere that the infected persons are kept to enable him heal them.
Bishop Okorie reiterated that he has the spiritual gift to heal any coronavirus patient presented before him or alternatively, he could exercise same power, if he could be given access to treatment centre and thereby advised that Christians should not be sent into hiding, rather they should be allowed to worship God without regulations.
“If one doubts the power of God in me, I am ready to volunteer myself to be taken to the treatment centre so that I can be infected through the patients. After the trip, if I survive, people will be my speech but if in the process, I contract the disease and die, it is not anyone’s business.”
“So, I want to tell the world that I am not playing religion”, he said.
The man of God further challenged the government to provide him with opportunity to heal the already infected persons in the state while staking his freedom for prosecution should he fail.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ebonyi State Chapter, Rev. Fr. Dr. Abraham Nwali, during the exercise expressed gratitude to God following the fact that community infection has not been found in Ebonyi State.
According to him, community infection can occur where infected persons would sneak into the villages unidentified and begin to spread it to others.
He added that the people of Ebonyi have been battling with the pandemic from the returnees who have either reported themselves or caught on their arrival and as a result advised that all precautionary measures should be maintained.
“The pandemic is a biological disease occasioned by interactions of the affected hand to the nose and mouth, but if people can observe all the protocols, they will be protected,” he said.
Concerning the ban on religious services earlier experienced, Fr. Nwali quoted some dignitaries: “Pope John Paul II: prayer is our hope”, “President Donald Trump: all churches should be allowed to open while Christians should not be stopped because God is our hope”, “Sierra Leone President: the solution to every problem is God” and “Rtd Cardinal Onaiyekan: let us present all our problems to God.”
