A man identified as Michael Agwu from Uburu Ohaozara, Ebonyi State is currently cooling his feet inside police cell after he was arrested for absconding from hotel where he lodged for over six months without paying his bills.
Michael Agwu was said to have checked into Clevero Hotel in April 2019 and left the hotel in October without the consent of the hotel management but luck ran out on him on June 17th 2020 when he was seen by a staff of the hotel which led to his arrest.
The development had resulted to ripples among the staff and management of the hotel.
A source disclosed that on 17th June, 2020, manager of Clevero Hotel located at No. 2 Policap Nwite Street, off Onwe Road reported to “A” Police Division that sometime in the month of April last year, one Michael Agwu came to the hotel and lodged and remained there till the end of October, 2019. His billed for the period summed N320,000.
The source said that the said guest without the consent of the hotel management left the hotel without paying his bill.
Unfortunately for him, on June 17th, the said guest was seen by a staff of Clevero Hotel at Kpirikpiri area in Abakaliki and alerted the hotel.
Contacted on phone, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the State, DSP Loveth Odah confirmed the report and said the police are investigating the matter and the suspect will be charged to court after police investigation.
“Yes the man was said to have sneaked out of the hotel after staying and enjoying himself from April to October but luck ran out on him on 17th June and he was arrested and handed over to the police. “A” Division is investigating the matter,” she said.
