Covid-19 House To House Campaign: Afikpo North Commences Retraining Of Officers

The Caretaker Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs.) Amuche Otunta-Godwin has flagged -off the training and re-training of critical Health Officers in Afikpo North Local Government Area for the House-to-House Campaign and contact tracing on the Coronavirus pandemic in all Communities under her jurisdiction for purposes of detecting possible carriers of the virus for isolation and treatment to checkmate further community transmission.
Performing the Flag-off Ceremony at the Council Headquarters, Afikpo, Mrs. Otunta-Godwin led a prayer session for the quick recovery of His Excellency, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State and his lieutenants who recently tested positive to the virus and are doing well in isolation, as well as other individuals worldwide, who are also victims of the virus.
She further urged the health officers to educate rural dwellers on the need to stay safe by keeping to the guidelines of WHO and NCDC, praying that with concerted efforts our society will become free from further spread of the pandemic.
The Council Boss who also disclosed that the House-to-House campaign and contact tracing in Afikpo North Local Government Area will commence soonest, solicited the cooperation of the good people of the Area for a hitch free exercise as she appealed to community leaders to step down the information at the grassroots to put everybody informed.
Mrs. Amuche also assured the health officers that she will personally join them in the House-to-House campaign, assisting them where necessary because for the fight against Covid-19 to be accomplished, there must collective determinism of action.
Earlier in a remark, the Administrative Secretary of Afikpo North Primary Health Care, Mr. Ken Nweke emphasized on the need for the Health Workers to employ and deploy the people’s native dialect (Mother tongue) during the House- to-House Campaign to drive home the import of the message to the local communities and instil confidence in the people.
Executive Secretary of Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. James Nwali implored the Health Officers on the need to work in tandem with the psychology of the people of every community, they visit by making them understand that testing positive to Covid-19 is not a death sentence and as such they should not hesitate to comply and co-operate with the health officers, working in their areas.
In his goodwill message, the State Routine Immunization Officer, Dr. Miracle Ogbu, who stood in for the Team Leader, Dr. Michael Ndubuisi Urom, lauded the Council Chairman for the massive mobilization of targeted stakeholders for the re-training exercise and other measures she put in place for the success of the House-to-House exercise in Afikpo North Local Government Area and assured her of the preparedness of the Health Officers to professionally and optimally discharge the duties assigned to them.
Dignitaries that attended the training programme include the Traditional Rulers, Members of the Essa Traditional Council of Elders,Town Union Presidents, political actors, the Health Workers of Afikpo North Local Government Council and other critical stakeholders.
