Ebonyi Police Repel Attack on Ugbodo Station …One Suspected Attacker Dead

The Police in Ebonyi State on Tuesday night repelled another attack by unidentified gunmen on Ugbodo Police Station in the Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that one of the attackers was allegedly killed in a shootout with the police and his corpse recovered from the bush and handed over to the SWAT unit of the command.

One of the police officers who repelled the attack was shot in his rib and he was rushed to a police clinic for treatment.

Different charms, alligator pepper, fuel, and other objects were discovered on the deceased.

A top security source in the state, who spoke to Citizens’ Advocate disclosed that the gunmen invaded the police station around 2 o’clock in the early hours of Tuesday.

“But they met stiff resistance from the policemen at the station. In the ensuing battle, the police officer sustained an injury while the gunmen later retreated with some of them believed to be carrying bullet wounds”.

“In the morning, the police went on a search of the bushes in the area and discovered the corpse of one of the gunmen”, the source said.

It was learnt that a bottle of petrol and dagger was found near the dead hoodlum in the bush which is believed was planned to be used to set the station ablaze.

The corpse was evacuated to the mortuary while the injured police officer was said to have been rushed to the hospital where he is said to be responding to treatment.
