The Member Representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, Hon. Chinedu Ogah has assured that henceforth no woman should die during child delivery as a result of lack of quality health and medical facility in the constituency.
He spoke on Monday during inspection of the Federal Maternity Center situated at Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The project which the Lawmaker attracted is designed to provide healthcare services for pregnant women and children as well as nursing mothers.
According to him, the multimillion naira life-saving project was a Federal Government project and the Staff to be recruited shall be enrolled as Federal Civil Servants.
“Before now, many women and children have lost their lives in Alike, Ikwo Local Government Area and Ezza South Local Government Area as a result of lack of access to functional maternity healthcare centre.
Every pregnant woman irrespective of her economic status only had access to the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital situated in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. Those who weren’t able to afford to take relatives to such expensive hospitals should risk death in the hands of quack traditional midwives”.
“Most women under critical health condition during childbirth have died in the process of traveling through several kilometers to access medical needs in the capital city”.
The lawmaker pointed out that the project was his long-time dream which would provide essential health services and ameliorate the suffering of pregnant women and children in the area.
He reiterated his commitment to creating more job opportunities and empowerment for his constituency.
