By Esther Nworie

Commissioner for Information and State Orientation in Ebonyi State, Barr Orji Uchenna, has called on youths in the state to use the social media in promoting peace and development.

He blamed unemployment and other socioeconomic challenges as major contributors to youth restiveness in Nigeria.

He made the call during a visit to his office by members of Ohaukwu Youth Congress.

He said Youths, at this moment when there are security challenges in the country, must endeavour to protect their future, as true leaders of tomorrow by ensuring that they remain agents of peace.

He noted that youths of the state were known to be law-abiding and peaceful because of the way and manner the governor had developed the state, while carrying them along in state government programmes and policies.

Barr Orji said that the youths should remain partners of state government in its campaign for peace and peaceful coexistence and further emphasized that security matters should not be left in the hands of government, as the country would be a better place if security were taken as everyone’s business.

Orji decried unemployment and other socioeconomic challenges as major contributors to youth restiveness, but said that the Ebonyi State Government under Engr. David Umahi has carried along the youths of the state in the various government empowerment programmes and therefore enjoined them to use the social media to promote peace and tranquility in the society while appreciating their roles in bringing about peace to the troubled areas of Ohaukwu Local Government Area.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of Ohaukwu Youth Congress, Engr Comrade Ephraim Eze, appreciated the Commissioner, Uchenna Orji on his image-making strategies which had finely projected the strides of Engr. Chief David Umahi led Administration to the global map.
