Sequel to increasing rate of insecurity in Nigeria, the Commandant of Nkwegu Military Cantonment, Ebonyi State, has pledged to support the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) to rid the state of all forms of criminality.
Lieutenant Colonel Erhabor Igbinadolor Osazuwa gave the assurance at Nkwegu Barrack during a courtesy visit by top officials of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Ebonyi State Command.
He noted that irrespective of enormous efforts of other security agencies to safeguard the nation, the efforts of Vigilante Group of Nigeria can never be over emphasized sequel to its high knowledge of hinterland terrains and natives alike.
Lieutenant Colonel Erhabor called for accurate and timely intelligent information from Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Ebonyi for prompt actions in safeguarding lives and property of natives.
He assured to provide security during forthcoming one-day visit of VGN Commander General, Dr. Usman Mohammed Jahun in the state to sensitize citizens.
Earlier in his remark, the Ebonyi State Commandant of VGN, Mr. Job Edeh who commended the army for their fight against insecurity called for synergy with Vigilante Group of Nigeria to rid Ebonyi of crimes and criminals.
“The Vigilante Group of Nigeria was registered as incorporated trustees with the Corporate Affairs Commission in Abuja on 28th February 1999, with the sole aim of complementing the efforts of the regular security agencies like the Army, Police, DSS, and other security agencies by providing them with vital information needed to curb crime in the country.
“Our men have proven their worth with the assistance they have rendered to the Army infighting the dreaded Boko Haram in the North East and other zones where insecurity is prevalent.
“The enormous security challenge facing the country now entails that all hands must be on deck and all security agencies to work in synergy to achieve the desired meaningful result. Our men are ever ready to assist the army in any way our services are needed”.
