Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has directed security agencies in the State to demobilize criminals creating panic in the State with illegal firearms.

He gave this directive during an unscheduled visit to the construction site of Ebonyi State International Airport, Ezza South.

The Governor reiterated that the architects of insecurity in the State we’re neither IPOB nor ESN.

Recall that Governor Umahi had been forced, earlier in the week, to cancel a scheduled inspection visit to the airport due to reported attack on security personnel and some Exco members awaiting his arrival.

Later on Friday, he used the opportunity of distribution of Hilux vans to security operatives in the state to make the visit. Speaking shortly after the visit, Governor Umahi expressed satisfaction with the pace of work with a promise to beef up security with modern gadgets and manpower to ensure the safety of workers on site.

“Like what happened on Wednesday, some criminals, after going to their village where they had planned purpose, I think they started chasing workers. It will never happen again.

“My directive is that if they see any one with weapon, they have to demobilize the person. These criminals are not ESN or iPOB, they are just pure criminals! that are going about robbing people and inflicting fears in people. And that’s why I’ve directed the security chiefs to fully mobilize here and block all the entrances from the villages leading to this airport.

“I’ve also directed the leaders of Ezza North and south to warn their people because if it happens again, we demobilize from this project” The Governor said.

He commended the security commanders for their commitment in securing the lives and properties of our people, assuring them of maximum support in this direction.
